The story

The original photograph was created on a beach in Kauai, Hawaii, marking the first of several photographic collaborations between Perry Julien and model/artist Tricia Belson beginning in 2015. Nearly a decade later, in 2024, Tricia revisited this image and was inspired to embellish the photographic print as part of the Camera to Canvas collaborative project.

She aptly named our collaborative artwork Love Unbounded.

In her words: “To receive love and light from another soul, from the sun, the sea, and the earth is indescribable.”

Tricia’s painted embellishment transforms the image into a surreal, mythic expression of embodied freedom. Wrapping around her figure is a vibrant, multi-limbed being—part sea creature, part divine energy—swirling in rich hues of purple, red, orange, and teal. At the center of the composition, she holds two radiant red hearts—one in each outstretched hand. These hearts become symbols of both offering and reception, embodying love in its purest, most expansive form. Through this fusion of photography and paint, Love Unbounded becomes a visual invocation of cosmic love, deep presence, and creative transformation.
